Does borage/ primrose oil help in Rheumatoid arthritis?
Borage/ primrose & blackcurrant seed oil contain large amounts of omega-6 fatty acids. This acid gets converted to ? linoleic acid (GLA) & further to dihomo ? linoleic acid (DGLA) in the body. GLA & DGLA have anti-inflammatory properties.
A few studies have been conducted to assess the utility of these in Rheumatoid arthritis. The studies have shown a mixed response. Presently there is no definite evidence to prove their efficacy in reducing inflammation in Rheumatoid arthritis.
