Methotrexate induced hair loss
What is Minoxidil & it is useful?
Minoxidil is an oral drug used For cotrol of hypertension. It was found to cause increased growth of by body hair.
A topical soultion of 2% minoxdil is available & is used for baldness & hair loss.
Though there are no studies of minoxidil in methotrextate induced hair loss, it is useful in many patients.
It has to be applied twice daily & should remian in contact with the scalp for a minimum of 4-5 hrs.
What is Aminexil & it is useful?
Aminexil (Diaminopyrimidine Oxide) is a drug developed by a French company. It is being used in shampoos
for treating perifollicular fibrosis. It is not yet approved by FDA/ MHRA (UK). There are no studies
about its utility in methotrexate induced hair loss.
