What is Serum C3, C4 test?

Serum c3, c4 are components of the complement system of the body. When the immune system is activated in lupus, it damages the various organs through the complement system. Hence, when the immune system is activated i.e. the disease is active the complements (c3, c4) are utilised. The report will thus show a low level of C3 & c4 when the disease is active.
