The complete guide to Uric acid and Gout—Treatment

I suffer from gout; what dietary precautions should I take?
1.Vegetables - have a protective effect in gout. Among vegetables, one may avoid purine rich vegetables (peas, beans, lentils, spinach, mushrooms, oatmeal, cauliflower). 2.Alcohol - been one of the most important risk factors for gout. Beer is associated with the maximum risk while wine with the minimum risk. 3.Fructose- men who consume increased amounts of fructose (sugar sweetened soft drink/ fruit juice, oranges/ apples) have been shown to be at risk of gout. 4.Animal protein- Meat being rich in purines & does increase the blood uric acid levels. This is particularly true for organ meat i.e. liver, kidney. 5.Seafood- Does increase the blood uric acid levels & is best avoided. 6.Consume plenty of water as it would help flush uric acid out of the body. 7.Dairy products – does not increase the uric acid levels.
