How is gout treated?
An acute attack is treated using NSAIDs like Diclofenac, Ibuprofen. The doctor may prescribe a drug called Colchicine (Goutnil), which is very effective in gout. Dietary changes are a must for long-term control of gout. Maintaining adequate fluid intake avoids development of hyperuricemia. Since purines are converted in the body into uric acid, decreasing the consumption of foods rich in purines helps. As mentioned above, purine rich food includes organ meet such as liver, kidney.
